I made enquiries to an Emergency response company.
They have sent me details of A sub Contracting arrangement.
Does anyone have experience of this type of operation.
It seems you are given jobs which you attend ,carry out the required work and then invoice the company for labour and materials.Payment is promised the end of the month following.
Having just started working for myself I am exploring every avenue. But so far I have always received payment on completion of the job.
Giving credit of between 30 and 60 days in these tough times is a risk, but then a steady supply of work would be helpful.
Any advice would be helpful.
By the way couldnt connect to the forum over the weekend .h

No .This is a private company yhat offers electrical services and emergency electrical services. They advertise for customers and offer 24 hour emerceny call out.
They bill the customer and you submit an invoice to them for labour and materials.
Payment comes hopefully one month after the month they are invoiced.

Depends who you work for mate. I sub contract and my payday varies. Usually Im lucky and can sweet talk them into weekly. Invoiced on a Monday before 10am and money in the bank that Friday otherwise its a 2 week turnaround.
The longest Ive had has been a 6 week turnaround. I was worried but it turned out good as gold and the bloke I worked for was well Ok. Although I do think he was a bit put out when I told him it didnt bother me if he tried to knock me as Id burn his house down!

If you can survive the 30day turnaround and its constant work then Id stick with it. Do your homework first and make sure that they are reputable. Google the company if you have too.........aswel as the directors.

Hope this helps?!
Mike.

Plenty of experience, some OK some terrible.
Its not necessarily just domestic call-out works. A lot of larger retail stores seem to use a single contractor who then subs out the work to local contractors around the country.

Payment is usually 30 days plus for these type of operations emphasis on the plus.

Check the rates. If you don't mind giving the company name there might be some useful experiences about.

There was one in particular that dealt with mainly domestic that featured on a cowboy builder TV some time back. A bit unfortunate as we were doing some work for them at the time, but thats another story!
