I tried to source some Sunpower modules today, and they told me they only supply direct to Sunpower approved installers.

Is this right?

Yes, that is correct, but if you have a job that requires Sunpower modules I may be able to help. PM me.

Thanks, I will check if they are still needed, can you tell me more about their route to Market as they state they are the most efficient module available?

Yes, they are the most efficient modules, and due to the cell technology are the only "true" all black panel available.
They can only be installed by authorized companies, There is a way that I can help, but sorry you can not buy them wholesale.

I take it they charge a premium for being the most efficient too!

Installed price is competitive to Sanyo's, and you would not compare Sanyo to a Chinese panel on price would you?

It all depends what the installer and/or the customer wants.

sunpower have a strange supply chain , they only suppy a couple of uk installers - but you need to comply with there very strict supply conditions

probably why they just shut quite a lot of there production lines in asia this week & recently sold to total & finicially in quite bad shape

I agree. Do consider Sanyo as an alternative: nearly as efficient, but much more accessible.

Unless things have changed you have to be a Sun power accredited installer, one of the stipulations was that you had to have/lodge a huge chunk of dosh with them which put almost every PV company out of the running, strangest way ever to do bussiness I know.

What about Sanyo/panasonic, not quite as good but they should be available.
