I was told £7500 for a system plus installation costs.

for 5kWh storage, ROI on that didn't add up hence my three questions (see main forum NEC day) I couldn't work out why Joe Public would fill up their utilty room / garage with a darn great big box for diddly squat ROI unless they absolutely needed continuity of power.

Perhaps on the continent brown outs are more common than here.

I reckon it should be possible to rig up an auto changeover system with battery back up and a separate off grid inverter for a hell of a lot less than that.

that's a ridiculous figure - we used to run entire festival stages for weekends at a time off rigs that cost less than that in total, never mind 5kWh of storage.
