I was just wondering what are the views of people in regard to these Super Injunctions used to silence news stories.

I'm uneasy with the whole idea of super injunctions and the cost to the taxpayer, I don't care who the recipient is.

As long as it doesn't affect the job they are paid to do then no. Mine is not a blanket opinion, i.e if a copper breaks the law then he should be sacked and there would be other examples but the stuff the papers want to tell us about just seems trivial to me.

So a copper is fair game - but what about a top BBC jurno, or the head of a bank that owes the taxpayer 45 BILLION???? If you're in the public light and you're paid either directly or indirectly by the taxpayer then as far as I'm concerned you're fair game.

i look at it a bit like the hunter being hunted, the jurnos job is to dig dirt so when it happens to him then tough, coppers job is to catch criminals so if he's been a naughty boy then he's fair game too, so on and so on. Footballers on the other hand is a different matter. their job is to play football, win matches and earn the silly money they are getting paid, so what they do in their private life should stay private, after all i doubt any of them want to play football because they'll be role models.

Sorry mate, but whether they want to be role models or not is inmaterial. THEY are role models for kids - indeed, they are even told this during training.

My dad always used to boast that he had the ultimate automotive anti-theft device - he had a car nobody wanted to nick.
Same with celebrities. Nobody wants to hear about what some minor league footballist, pub chef or shop worker does in their spare time, because they don't care. It's a different story when it's Wayne Rooney, Gordon Ramsay or Mary Portas though, because they're paid to be on the telly. It's as if their lives are meant to be viewed from the outside, and their indiscretions are the interesting bits which sell the newspapers and gossip magazines.

I reckon I could get away with just about anything and it wouldn't get in the papers, because nobody cares.
