Hi chaps,

Anyone have any ideas on the differences between these seaward testers???

From what I can see seaward have produced theses testers over the years and I wanted to know the differences.

Supernova,
Supernova XE,
Supernova Plus,
Supernova Elite.

Cheers . Any info much appreciated.

Supernova - Older version of tester, does not have same firmware of later models. i.e. Results storage capacity, Results notes not editable and does not interact with PATguard Plus or Elite. Also (I think) not compatible with Test n Tag printer.

Supernova XE - Advanced version of tester, but does not have 110v testing capability.

Supernova Plus - Advanced version of previous model with full download capability and intergration with PATguard Plus and Elite.

Supernova Elite - Latest incarnation of Plus with added facility to test RCDs.

Seaward Supernova XE PAT tester can test all types of 230 Volt / 240 Volt electrical appliances including IT equipment. It can perform the following tests: earth bond test, insulation test, earth leakage tests and touch current tests, plus it has a memory and download abilities, via the parallel port. The unit can test IEC power cords found on PC's etc.
Supernova XE is a single voltage tester without a 110V mode or multi-voltage input. It does not have a flash test mode. It's the lightest supernova model.

Seaward Supernova, can test all types of 230 Volt / 240 Volt and 110V power tools and electrical appliances including IT equipment. It can perform the following tests: earth bond test, insulation test @ 250V or 500V, earth leakage tests and touch current tests, plus it has a memory and download abilities, via the parallel port. It can also test IEC power cords found on PC's etc. It can print PAT labels on a Test n Tag printer or read PAT barcodes with a barcode scanner, via the serial port.

Seaward Supernova Plus, can test all types of 230 Volt / 240 Volt and 110V power tools and electrical appliances including IT equipment. It can perform the following tests: earth bond test, insulation test @ 250V or 500V, earth leakage tests and touch current tests, plus it has a memory and download abilities. It can also test IEC power cords found on PC's etc. It can print PAT labels on a Test n Tag printer and read PAT barcodes with a barcode scanner, via the serial ports.
Supernova Plus added the following extra features to the Supernova, an extra serial port (2) to allow bar code scanner and Test n Tag printer to be used together. Automatic generation of appliance ID. 10x quicker download speed. Ablity to read/write to external Brain Cells RFID tags. An earth lead limit calculator. A single screen visual test. In-line testing.

Seaward Supernova Elite, can test all types of 230 Volt / 240 Volt and 110V power tools and electrical appliances including IT equipment.
Supernova Elite added RCD testing and an internal modem (no need for a computer to connect to the net) to the features of the Supernova Plus.

Thanks for replies. Still confused a little thou . According to the manual for a supernova you can download test results on it.

I can see the elite has rcd capabilities so that differs it from others, and the XE has no transformer. But the supernova and supernova plus ??? . Still not sure.

Thanks for reply Markie. Good info there. Any chance you could let me know where the Info came from. I looked on the web and I couldn't see it anywhere. Is the extra serial port due to it having a two port lead supplied or is there two parallelPorts and one rs232. Thanks again.

entech, Supernova Plus and Elite have two RS232 serial ports, one for Test n Tag printer and one for bar code scanner or Brain Cell writer/reader. One parallel port for download/upload to a computer or directly to the web on the Elite.
The information compiled from Instrument catalogues and firms testers.

Hi almac - what's your problem with data input with Supernova - maybe I can help ??
I run two Supernova Plus(s) and they're definitely good workhorses.
