Supply for new boiler?

S

sjm

Hi guys.
Quick question. Is there any reason why I can't use a fused spur from an existing ring main to supply a new boiler installation. Stupid question I know but plumber mentioned you couldn't, then told me he'd wire controls, I only needed to give him a supply, then changed his mind on location of controls and has now left me to wire up all controls. You're opinions greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
Steve

no problem with FCU off ring final, mate. fused at 3A of course. hope you're charging the plumber for the extra work

the only reason i can see for putting the boiler on its own dedicated circuit would be the inconvenience of having to wear a jumper if a RCD tripped and took out the heating.

I agree.

There's no reason why a spur off the ring main can't be used, but I prefer to have a dedicated curcuit for a boiler just to divide the circuits up a bit & reduce inconvenience. Just a personal choice really.
