Hi All

A customer has had a 12 panel solar system(power one 3kw inverter, sharp panels and a landis generation meter) wired into a spare way of the existing cu. The system has been working fine for 3 weeks untill 3 days ago the supply landis generation meter has not moved although the supply electricity has not stopped. The weather was overcas so there was no reason for the solar to kick in. Can anyone advise me as to what the problem could be.

Thanks

Hi Gary K

It is the supply meter that has stopped. The generation meter and the solar system are working fine. Just to clarify my issue above, after further investigation the supply meter hasnt worked since the solar was installed. The supply to the house is also fine the supply meter has just stopped recording the usage. The meter is a landis GYR. The meter is showing the last reading after the solar was installed intermittantly with a further display of rEd.

Hope this clarifies things.

Thanks.

Your customer should contact their electricity supplier and notify them that the meter is not working. It will need to be swapped.

Landis Gyr is the maker's name. There should be a separate model number on the meter. It would be of interest to know exactly what that is, if you could find out.

Similar problem at my neighbours after panels fitted......Turns out that some meters are not suitable for solar panels. The supplier should know which one are unsuitable.

afaik all digital Landis meters should be ok, but it's possible that some have had some form of anti-tamper setting used that maybe cuts the meter off if it detects reverse current... or it's just faulty.

We had to replace a Landis recently as a generation meter, as it was recording around double the actual readings. Was previously working fine, so a bit confusing - we put it on test in series with a new landis to confirm this. I'm still a bit baffled about why / how tbh.
