Hello all. I'm hoping someone can answer this (probably simple) question I have...
I just bought a surge protector mini extention cable to keep with my laptop. It comes with a moulded 2 meter cable, standard UK plug on the end of it, and on the bottom of the unit, the words: NON REWIREABLE SOCKET OUTLET
The 2 meter cable length is complete overkill for my laptop bag, and quite annoying. My question is why "they" are trying to tell me not to change/modify the cable? Does the 2 meter length have some effect on the surge protection capabilities? With a standard 4-gang extension they usually have a small panel on the back so you can change the cable if required. Would I encounter any issues with the unit if I cut the cable in half and put a new plug on the end?
I'm perfectly capable of wiring a plug by the way... I am just wondering about any effects shortening the cable would have on the surge protector.
