swa cable next to external gas pipe

Hi all,
Just wondering on your ideas on how much space there should be between an outside gas pipe and an swa cable on an outside wall of a domestic property i have read the section in the regs regarding proximity of other services but cant make much sense of it

I normally try and achieve around 50 - 100mm.

The main reg is that your not allowed to use other services to fix your work...i.e do not cable tie to the gas pipe.

You also need to consider...should the gas company want to move/re soldier the pipes...is your work going affect it

Which reg is this?

I often cable tie protective bonding conductors along their respective service pipes, and then install clamp just after stopcock/meter.

I was actually looking at this the other day.You are not allowed to cable tie any cables to service pipes in case they have to be removed.If i can find it again,i will post it.Found it.
Main bonding conductors should not be supported by the service pipes they are connected to,Reg 543.3.1

But we all do it to some degree, i.e exterior gas meters....if they are going to move the metre they can unclip it, it willl be their repsonsibility to re connect following their work...then can then spend 4 hours and £20 of cable clips into render if their that fussed

A protective conductor shall be suitably protected against mechanical and chemical deterioration and electrodynamic effects.

Sorry mate,it will be your responsibility.Why are you running your cable on a service pipe.If they rip it off because you have tied it to there pipe.Shouldn't have been done in the 1st place
