Hi,

I need to provide power (about 3 amps) to a tent in a school field for a weeklong event that happens once a year. Up to now the power has been supplied from a 13 amp socket with 2.5mm flex into a 32 Amp command plug and socket, then down a 100 Meter SWA with 3 * 2.5mm cores to another 32 Amp commando connector and on to an extension lead, but the SWA armour is not earthed or clamped in place and it should be.

Can anyone tell me how to connect SWA to a 32 amp commando plug correctly, or give an alternate suggestion for a weather resistant connector that can be unplugged but will convert from SWA to regular flex sing the correct SWA glands?

I hope I have described my problem clearly.

Many Thanks

Paul

If I were you, I'd get a 100m drum of arctic blue (or yellow) 2.5mm 3 core flex, stick a 13A plugtop on one end and a 16A ceeform (commando) on the other. Make yourself a converter for the other end by sticking a male 16a plug on the end of a 13a 4 way block. Attach a plugtop RCD at the 13A end and you're away.
