Hello,

Am installing new shower circuit, however cable run in house is not accessible to provide appropriate support (clips), so am looking at the idea of running SWA external around wall and up to loft, for some reason I just wanted to check that this is acceptable?

I cant see why not, the cable is suitably selected, will be properly supported and terminated, just for peace of mind wanted to see if anyone has had to do previously/opinions?

Many Thanks

The internal cable run would be fed through the joists of a pitched roof (whichs runs over the stairwell), obviously not way of supporting the cable as the gap is approx 200mm, it would just be lying on theplasterboard ceiling of below. I have seen a lot of installs like this, but I would rather see a cable properly supported to a structure. Maybe thats fussy, I dont know...

If you look at point 5 on page 111 in the Red OSG, this cable doesn't need any support.
Running a SWA on the outside of the house for this seems like complete overkill (& expensive) way of installing this circuit!

cable lying across joistrs and ceiling is supported. your worry would be if insulation was added on top.

Ok thanks guys for feedback, there is no insulation in the run up to the loft, consumer unit is in meter cupboard outside front door, this then runs straight into the pitch of the roof and into loft space. I will look at the reference to osg, thanks guys!
