Swimming pool install

Anyone on here done an install for a swimming pool.

Its all concrete walls etc as its dug in the floor. So cable runs will need to be in floor trunking in the screed, with accessible junctions, if you can get the correct ip rating to meet requirements.

Also I know about the earthing grid that need to be laid around the pool. Has anyone laid one of these before and know how exactly it needs to be laid? Like how far in the floor? Under the tiles or lower?

Just general insider info on swimming pool installs if possible.

you shouldn't be using floor trunking in a swimming pool installation, so forget that idea. All cable runs to be in buried conduit (metal or plastic) within the screed. Pool lighting is via a factory supplied deck JB connected to the underwater light fitting. Any concrete steelwork (re-bar and the like) to be bonded to the pool room EMT. Any metal ladder type steps into the pool or other metal apparatus such as diving boards etc, should also be bonded to the earthed re-bar grid via 10mm bonging cable.
You only need to provide an earth rod or rods if the supply earth is PME (TNC-S) or if the supply is a TT system...

If you do need to provide a supplementary rod system, don't start using those thin twigs, you need depth, so go for a 5/8'' 2.4m rod(s) or multiples of 1.2m 5/8'' rods coupled via couplers. You should be looking for around 10 ohms or so, lower double figures anyway, definitely not 200/100 ohms!!

IET guidance note 7 has got to be worth a look. I have never done a full swimming pool install, only did all the supplies etc for the pumps and whatnot, which were located some way from the pool in a purpose built shed, as were the power supplies for the SELV lighting, so i cant offer any advice. But this is one job you have to get cock on, so i would be looking at GN7 and Part 7 of BGB in some great depth (no pun intended!).
