Today the government proposed a cut to the FIT rate of over 50% on installations lower than 4kW. The current rate of 43.3p per kW would drop to 21p. Cuts proposed to FITs in other generation capacities were just as harsh. If the plan goes through, the cut-off date for the current rates would be 12[SUP]th[/SUP] December—six weeks from today.

If the plan is passed, it will jeopardise the 25,000 jobs directly linked to the industry, not to mention put terrific strain on at least ten times as many businesses that supply the industry such as manufacturers, movers, scaffolders, electricians, plumbers, web developers and stationers.

Because this plan is in the consultation stage, there is still a SHORT amount of time to STAND UP AND GET OUR VOICES HEARD. These cuts will bring about a drastic fall in demand for solar PV installations and lead to disastrous consequences for our businesses.

We at EcoSkies strongly encourage you to take action and defend our livelihoods. Here are some things you can do right now:

Go to this website and add your name to the petition against the cut: http://www.oursolarfuture.org.uk/support-solar/

Contact your representatives and tell them what you think. If you don’t know who your MP is you can find them with their contact information here: http://www.theyworkforyou.com/mps/

Participate in the consultation at the DECC: https://econsultation.decc.gov.uk/office-for-renewable-energy-deployment-ored/comprehensive-review-part-1/consultation/intro/view
Click on “Give Us Your Views: Online consultation” This is a four-page online form that allows you to add your voice directly to the debate.

In the next day or two EcoSkies will have a FaceBook page up and running, with further updates about what we’re doing to help stop this dangerous proposal.

Please forward this email to your business contacts, suppliers, and anyone else that depends on your business.

If you use Facebook or Twitter, please add a message to your profiles asking visitors to join the protest. Encourage your friends and family to pass the message on as well.

Don’t let the government pass this cut! All of our livelihoods are under threat by this scheme, and if we don’t step forward to dissent together, the government will assume that nobody cares. Let them know that we object and will not let this go quietly!

I'm sorry David though a noble cause which I agree to in the principle for people losing jobs, people went on strike for a year, some now have criminal records for exercising their right to picket and were arrested for doing so and after a long and bitter struggle ................government still won. It's a rare cause that alter governments mind.

Thanks for the links.

To do nothing is not an option.

This Government must be exposed at every opportunity for the 'greenwash' lies they tell on a daily basis.

I've added my response to the DECC website. I don't think there's a lot we can do about the drop - it appears the money simply isn't there to cover the high number of installations currently being made. What can be done is to extend the cut off past the 12th of December. For me that is the worst part of this change.
