O

Octopus

Been out to do some basic tests on an empty house today where the tank in the loft was leaking for a number of unknown days!

Wow, what a mess! Water in the bathroom light fittings, stains below the sockets and light switches where water has passed through. Plus a big hole in the ceiling of the landing the size of a firemans boot!

My initial tests have determined that the only circuit not totally affected by the flood is the cooker point with a socket. The solicitors want to install 4 x dehumidifiers so I'm proposing to disconnect ALL of the circuits in the CU and install directly below the board 2 x 32 radial ciruits, each with a 2 gang socket.

So my question is are these "temporary" circuits notifiable or can I put on the EIC "temporary"??

Thanks

you could class it as an emergency repair and notifiable as soon as practicable, i.e. when all is dried out and you can carry out some testing.

Hum, but I suspect that once its dried out, no notifiable work will be required, as I'd remove the "temporary" sockets and reconnect the "existing" circuits - and thus wouldn't be on the radar of LABC

Iv got a wee board made up with a RGD 3 way c.u. 4 double sockets and a bulkhead emergency light fitted to it got to remember and unplug battery when finished job it gives enough light and time to reconnect the new C.U. when finished
couldnt you fit something like this ?

I've got a temporary board made up but its a bit big for the space available.

We had a massive flood here about two years ago. Almost total devastation, took 3 months to dry, we spent 11.5 months living in a rented down the road whilst the insurers messed about putting it right. I ended up totally rewiring the place, but when it first happened the insurers sparks (as they wouldn't let me get involved at that stage) just put 2 x 32A circuits in on RCBO's, each one supplying 2 x 2G sockets (for the driers). They did a very ropey and basic inspection on the damage but were very thorough on the bit they had installed and they did issue an EIC. But I never got a Part P so guess they didn't notify. I don't think I would, either, tbh.

for what it costs, just notifiy it.insurance company involved so make yourself bulletproof and if you really wanted to be picky mounting 2 soc under the db would actually be a new circuit
