Hi all,

Been invited to tender to wire up 2 new builds. This will be my first proper tenderand I am unsure how I can go about responding. they are a smallish building company

I have the plans so know exactly what they want doing, and how much i'd be looking to charge, but it's the actual layout that I haven't got a clue with at the moment.

I want to try and at least look professional and that I do tenders all the time :) but am unsure exactly what content needs to be included.

Also, in the letter to me ine bit of it says
May we draw your attention to the following points:
1. We do not withhold retention from subcontractors in your trade.

Not sure exactly what they mean with that statement either.

Any advice/suggestions would be really appreciated.

Cheers

If they have given you an exact spec saying what needs to be in each room, details of consumer unit requirements ect, you could just reply on a single page listing as follows-

Address (theirs not yours)
Date

Dear Mr Xyz,

Ref. Electrical works at XYZ property

Thank you for your enquiry regarding electrical works at the above address.
Wire to your specification (expand on this a bit, the usual waffle)

lighting- £---.xx
power- £---.xx
Sub-mains £---.xx
Bonding/earthing £---.xx
Inspection & testing £---.xx
Total labour & materials for each dwelling £---.xx plus VAT

Set out terms and conditions for payment here

If i can be of further assistance please do not hesitate to contact me blah blah

Your Sincerely/ faithfully

Bob the Builder

If they haven't given an exact spec you could list this on an additional sheet on a room by room basis.
If you make it clear what they are getting for how much there shouldn't be any arguments.

Hope this helps

Cheers, that helps a lot.

Yes i've got the A3 plans and have the full spec so should be quite straight forward. I think I was just overcomplicating things in my head.

Thanks guys
