Have done numerous searches but cant seem to find the answer I'm looking for.

Help if you can please.

I have Mac and the time has come to upgrade my certificate software (currently running a freeby one through mac word which is a bit buggy)

Like the look of Easycert, but it only works on a PC so I need some thing called parallels ?

Anyone one have any experience of this, and once I've got parallels will I need any other windows software to make easycert run ?

Thanks again,

Sy

I use parallels so I can use the PIRform software.

So basically, install parallels on the mac, then install windows onto parallels.

With the latest version of parallels, windows starts up even faster, use windows as you do then on the bottom mac toolbar just open and use safari for browsing or pages, numbers whilst the windows is running.

I Quit Parallels and windows just goes into suspended mode, so next time you open windows or parallels it opens even quicker.

I also have parallels on the Ipad and at that gives me control of both the mac and windows remotely.

Do it, you know you want to.......

You'll need Boot camp or parallels to run windows. Then, as said you'll need a copy of windows also. Plus you'll need to think about virus software etc. I decided it was cheaper to just buy a laptop for 'work' stuff so as not to 'infect' my Mac with Microsoft products.

BTW we have a Time capsule and it has been great. The wife accidentally deleted some of her work and was able to get it back again pronto.

I just use a normal hard drive for time machine, much cheaper and works great!

At the minute I've got a normal hard drive external hard drive which I plug in and copy and paste all my data across to every week.... but this time capsule sounds a bit easier to me (it's permanently plugged in and I wouldn't have to do anything, it does it all for you once you've initially set it up - think that's right anyway ? Also another excuse to buy some more apple gear, will put in on the list with an ipad :biggrin5:)

Yeah, the first back up takes hours - literally. Thereafter it just does incremental back-ups (I think mine is hourly for our Macs).
The time capsule does other things that an external hard drive doesn't like running wifi, print server etc. Though to be fair we do also have external drives attached to our Macs also.
