Just starting up in the industry, can anyone give me adivce on what 17th edition multifunction testers are available on a low budget and where to shop. thanks....

Check out the Martindale Veritest range VR2230 and 2240 (the 2250 is over specified and will be OTT on price) and the Dilog 9083P. The Dilog has a number of supporters on here and tends to be the bargain MFT both new and on Fleabay.
If your wanting to buy new visit the forum sponsors Test-meter.co.uk, where there is a 5% discount for members.

there's quite a few on ebay, but as with all 2nd hand goods, you may be taking a chance. i can't fault the megger 1552.

how do we get the discount is there a code thanks

I wanted to buy a Megger 1552 but as I was on a bit of a budget went for the Metrel eurotester as it was ÂŁ100 cheaper. I find it to be everybit as good as the Megger.

There is some good deals available on all testers at the moment, lots of extra bits and pieces.
Fluke 1650 Series are a good bet and are well priced, what i would say is make a few calls to get the best price.
Personally i would keep away from ebay, chatting to someone the other day they bought a Fluke off ebay shop and sent it to Fluke for calibration to be told it was one of a stolan batch. It was confiscated but as a gesture of good will Fluke gave them another tester, but i'm not sure thay had to.
