Test Instruments

List the Individual test instruments for the following tests

Resistance of equipotential bonding conductor - low resistance ohm meter, upto 2 ohms

Continuity of ring final circuit conductors - low resistance ohm meter

Presence of Voltage - voltage idicator upto 600 volts

Insulation resistance betweeen live and earth conductors - insulation resistance ohm meter upto 100 M ohms but will generally speaking do more then this

Polarity of an edison screw lamp holder - low resistance ohm meter

Soil resistivity - earth electode resistance meter

Ze - earth loop impedance meter

PFC/PSCC - PFC PSCC tester

RCD operation times - RCD tester

Total demand in amps - Clamp meter

Is anyone able to confirm if this is correct

Looks good to me as well. If you are planning on doing the 2391 then get used to using the proper terminology and not abbreviations, a picky marker will pull you down for PFC, PSCC, even though they know what you mean.

Cheers...........Howard

Cheers SirKit Breaker that is constructive stuff. This is going to sound a bit stupid but I dont actually know what a PFC, PSCC tester is I just guessed what it would be. Could you tell me what it is?, and also what other if any might have the wrong termonology.

If asked to state the units of measurement for each of the above what would you all say?

GN3 says that you use an earth loop impedance meter on PFC range to measure both PFC and PSSC. I don't think you get marks in 2391 for PFC PSCC tester but I could be wrong on that. The answer will be in A or kA

Hi mate dont forget PEFC which is prospective earth fault current
PSCC is as above and the greater of the two is the the one you record
for PFC
for three phase measure all the lines individually to neutral the highest of these 3 multiply by 2 to get the three phase prospective fault current and is recorded

recorded in kA

Better to get into the same terminology as early as possible then you don't have to forget and relearn later, you will get to 2391 at some point! Looks like your doing pretty well on most questions these days, keep it up and I'm sure it'll be fine :D
