What type of testers does everybody use? Been using a megger mft 1552 for goodfew years but been having problems with erratic loop readings , it's been repaired twice and it's goosed again. Just wanted some points of view on other brands that are available !

I agree that megger are great. I have the 1730 and its great but not as user friendly as the 15 series. My mate has a Metrel with an adapter that does all his figure 8 tests for him but i am not such a fan

From personal experience steer well clear of megger 1710/1720/1730. more time in repair then being used over a year (well nearly) admittedly it has all day heavy use but still, the most unreliable tester I have ever used but very nice when it works!

people are brainwashed by names lets face it Fluke and Megger have been trading on their names for years so all testers comply it down to how you use or abuse it and like Trigger said look after your broom.....................................................

PS got a 1553 in a Fluke carry case but if I bought a replacement it would probably be a Metrel
