Hi guy's ,
could someone offer me some advice please , I have a job to do in a factory which recently had a small fire .They want me to test the high bay lighting in one of the factory bay's .two of the lighting ciruits have been re-wired in swa cable due to the damage from the fire on the old circuits . what they would like me to do is test the rest of the existing installation which is over 50 years old to check for any further damage or break down of the installation , it's wired in singles through metal conduit and has 3 high bay lights per circuit , in total 14 circuits fed from various d/b's ranging from the old english electric and red spot boards to new merlin gerin type boards , the source of which is from transformer's either a 520v or 440 v . The circuits are 240v 2-phase ( 120v per leg ) and use the conduit as the earth . I have to do a full initial inspection . could anyone offer me any advice on what would be the best way to test the conduit .

I believe you would need to hire a high current injection tester to test the steel containment forming the CPC. probably be someone along with a bit more knowledge about this soon

All I need is a low resistance ohmeter , which I have . I will probably have to use test method 2 and look for a reading of around 0.05ohms or better ,

I guess the easiest way would be to run a supply from ignition /aux via a relay that drops the supply when the lights are on.
