Further to a previous post last Sunday .........

I've got to replace an old contactor which isn't working. It's switching three night storage heaters, total load 28A approx, via the meter tails.

So I've got this Hager 40A triple-pole contactor.

The question is this: how can I test it's all wired up and working without having to wait for the economy 7 clock to kick in at 1 o'clock in the morning?

Ta.

Thanks Ryanryan

There's no manual activation on this one, which slightly surprised me.

As for giving it 240V, I did consider that but as I'm unsure what cuurent it would draw to activate the coil I'm a bit edgy about damaging. Do you know what current goes from the clock to the coil?

Thanks mate.

bugger all current... <1amp... manually push the contactor in with a insulated srewdriver:eek:

Ok no way of manually doing it (see pix).

I'll put a 1A fuse in a plug and put L+N to A1/A2, voltmeter across output L+N tails.

Muchos gracias guys.
