Hi all,

I have been out of the electrical game for about a year. I am qualified but only to 16th edition standards.
I have just been offered a full time job by a local house refurbishent company.
I will be the only electrcian working for them, they have always used sub contractors and had them to sign off there own domestic work.
But now if i go to them on the books am i eligible to sign off domestic work or does the company need to be nic registered?? im so confused about it all

Either the company or yourself needs to be registered with a competent person scheme or involve building control. You will need to have the 17th under your belt asap and in anycase within 12 months but as I understand it without the 17th you still cannot self certify as you have not passed the exam.

Hope that helps

Chris

Yes the way they have done it qualifications dont matter you could have degrees coming out of your ears it would notchange the requirement of a competent person scheme or involve building control.
