sorry but i must ask what may seem a stupid question.when testing continuity on a lighting circuit ie r1,r2,is it necessary to remove all lamps on complete circuit,or just the lamps on the light being tested also if the circuit has additional equipment ie shaver/ext fan.do these need to be disconnected.i dont think they do but i would like some expert advice, thanks

On a lighting circuit it will be R1&R2, and no volt sensitive equipment or lamps will need to be removed.

When carrying out insulation resistance tests between Line and Neutral, voltage sensitive equipment will need to be removed along with lamps. If there is too much equipment to be removed then the test can be carried out in parallel across Line & Neutral by testing Line & Neutral TOGETHER under one croc/lead to CPC. If this is done it should be noted as a limitation and agreed with the client prior.
