hi lads hope you enjoying ya friday night and not too drunk.

I have just finished a rewire on a communal area in a block of flats, all surface mounted with pir's and fluorescent/emergency lights.

I have been told today that i will be testing it on monday with my boss but i will be doing the testing while he watches, basically im not 100% sure about the dead testing as in insulation resistance, should i remove the line from the fittings and ir or should i test l and n to earth at 250V and if ok test at 500V?

As i say i am not sure what to do i have never tested a circuit with a pir and the circuits i normally test have a max of 1 florescent so i normally just remove line from fitting.

Any ideas what is best?

Harsh one, if you are installing PIRs and Fluorescents then I would usually test before the fittings are connected, since you cannot energise until it is tested why connect them?

You will get some odd IR results from most PIRs (low N-E IR quite often), and fluorescents will not like being tested at 500V.
As everything is connected then I would test at 250V on L+N to E, However you would need to test before and after each PIR so it would be easier to link out L/SL on each PIR into lever wago connectors, but it does depend on how many PIRs you have.
