When testing R1 + R2 on a three phase circuit, do you connect each phase in turn to earth and test at other end? Record the highest value? Similar to what you test Zs on 3 phase but without the connecting?

Cheers all.

Hi Voltz remember you are checking continuity of the CPC the R1+R2 method is just a convenient way of doing this.
If it is a 3 phase circuit it is good practice to check all three but if wired and connected correctly the readings should be the same Each phase conductor is the same CSA and the same length. if you get different readings there is a problem somewhere.

platty,
You are perfectly correct Sir, however, the idea of checking the 3 is to ensure that there are no issues with connections, and this is a good way of ensuring that the line resistances are acceptably balanced as well as checking R2 at the same time.
This is why I always recommend checking all 3, also you should record the highest resistance on your results sheet.
