Testing Rig sockets & lights

Wonder if any can help.

I have searched the forums looking for a test rig to get me started but no Joy so far. I'm basically looking on making myself a test rig before college just to help get myself around when doing ring circuits etc when I start.
The ones I do find have either been deleted or photobucket not showing me the pics.



Does anyone have any test rigs pics please or if any one can give me any tips on how many sockets or lights I should use.



I have got all the lights & sockets etc cables which I purchased & a 6 way consumer unit & I would finally after a few more months there luse it for me testing on etc in a few months but would like to get used to wiring it.



Any help would be much appreciated.

During my time as The head of an electrical section I had my lads build some portable testing stations, for use in lectures on electrical safety/testing scenarios. About 5 in total, consisting of a board on wheels with a CU, an RFC a Radial, a lighting circuit and a few other circuits, people could test etc, sadly I retired and lost touch, and don't know what happened to my creations, happy to advise if you require any help.

Pete sorry to be a pain mate but another quick question.

What would you recommend or what advice would you give regarding learning the test rig, would it be a question of putting it on and then taking it off & so on 'so I get to familiarise what's happening so to speak.

Well not really Massive, you could do your initial testing, safe isolation etc, put some faults on the board, and although you have put the faults on yourself and know where they are, it would give you an insight into to fault finding and what to look for, RCD testing, IR, continuity although with the length of cables involved you would get some odd readings, but providing you understand the restrictions, I feel it would be great help for training purposes, I had great success with my boards, pity I couldn' have "borrowed" one when I retired. Pretty simple to construct if you have the cash to build it, I was lucky, training meant lots of dosh to play with.

Definitely have a three way lighting circuit two two ways and intermediate. You could have a fault box with resistors in and switch them on/off randomly to make life more exciting.

I take it I can run my test rig just from the consumer unit, reason I ask & might sound a bit thick here but above the ring circuit on your photo there's a silver box & im not sure what that is.

CANt quote remember. Think it may have some resisters in to simulate faults etc
