Hi all, does anyone test there smoke alarm circuit, just first fixed a full rewire so have put the interlinked smokes in....just having another confused moment about this!
Just in general....shedule of results.....getting abit confused with using the 3core
Yer I would be doing a continuity test, the ir tho would just shoot the 500 down the line and neutral so the three core one conductor would miss out......would I go to the first smoke disconnect the three core and start another from there between all three and the cpc? I am well confused,
Remove smokes and replace with connector blocks so that the entire circuit is complete and stick the 500 V's up it.
IR all conductors Live Neutral, Live CPC, Live Switched Live (signal) Etc etc etc
As for functional testing, use the test button and there is such a thing that you can purchase from the wholesalers called "A can of smoke" I thought I was having my leg pulled when it was first mentioned but it is true![]()
End to end continuity for each of the conductors (including the extra signal cable). Then you have some options to test for IR. You can do LN->E and LS->E for example.
Thinking about it, after two more sigs of beer, the LS-E isn't going to prove much as the signal switch won't be closed on the loop through the alarms, so that's just a daft idea as you'd have to do it at each location.
