Texecom Veritas 8 - Zone open when setting alarm

Hi,

Our alarm always has a zone open whenever we set it.

The zone consists of two door sensors and three shockguards. Is there a way to work out where the problem is? Also we dont have an engineers code.

Are you saying that the 2 door sensors and the 3 shock guards are on one zone? This would be very unusual.

Assuming you mean one of the zones are open then the panel will indicate which zone it is by the number led lit up/displayed. Without knowing which zone is linked to which detector then it would be a simple process of elimination.

Thanks for the reply. So we inherited the alarm. I think when the house was extended, they simply added an extra door and two window shockguard sensors onto the existing zone that was next to it.

When I put my code in, press 'full' the zone number flashes with the same number of beeps, telling me its 'open'. As there are five sensors in total in one zone I don't know how to work out what the problem is.

Ok, so to find the fault the simplest way would be to loop out at each point one at a time until the zone cleared, unless you come across a loose/damaged wire. The factory set engineering code on texecoms is usually 1234, unless it has been changed.

Great thank you. I can google, but is there an image or anything to show how to loop the wires. From what I can see there are a number of wire ends in the sensor (image atached)

There will usually be:
Supply usually marked - + & - or 0v & 12v
Tamper - usually marked - Tamp
Trigger - usually marked - Alarm

Older or different make sensors maybe marked up differently. You would link out the trigger/alarm terminals.

Someone more knowledgeable may advise you better.

I've found two of the shockgards have no power going in as theres no light coming on. I swapped in and out ones I know definitely work. So I think it may be a wiring thing somewhere!
