i have just done a periodic on a thatch roof property that has no protction against rodent damage. I have been asked to quote for re-wiring the upstairs lights. Are there any other cable methods than galv conduit, mi or SWA?
Any help much appreciated

Im not sure you need to use any of those TBH.

I have seen thatched properties that have all the circuits etc run in mini trunking.

Electrical Systems

The premises' entire electrical system should be checked by a competent NICEIC approved electrical engineer, or an engineer with a similar professional qualification, every five years.
Only essential wiring should be run through the roof void. This should be carried in a conduit and not attached to the rafters holding the thatch (thatchers commonly use metal spikes to hold the thatch in place). Light fittings in the roof space should be enclosed in a bulkhead or well-glass fitting.
Wiring or cables, particularly in rural areas, may be subject to attack from rodents. If there is any evidence of this, seek the assistance of the local pest control officer.
In houses that are fed from overhead supplies, any old ceramic type insulators must be replaced. Your electricity supplier will do this free of charge.
Any security lighting fitted should be at least 1m away from the thatch. Wiring must not be laid through the thatch itself.

Can you use PVC conduit for the install?
This was the real answer i was after. It looks like you can use it, we also used it on my old workplace but i was never 100% sure. Ive seen algathene water pipes chewed through by rodents, but i guess H.I. pvc conduit it quite a bit harder.
