Last install completed, paperwork finished and sent to customers, invoices paid - that's it for this year. I'm going to repond to both consultations and try and work out what will be best to supplement solar with.

In January I'll review the prices and start looking for work again but no installations until I know for certain how much the Fit will be. 46,000 installations in November - I'm worried it will be less than 21p.

What a year!

yep I could see the cut going a bit deeper, as someone said before the Government are'nt bothered about anything but the Green deal
I'm just finishing off the last two jobs ,had to hold back on one because of the wind but the other is a ground mount but the paperworks all sent off the other day and and we're not going to lose any sleep about that

I'm just wondering what the hell everyones going to be talking about on the forum over the next few weeks , can't keep slagging the government we'll all end up bitter and twisted and stabbing everyone in the back , then the only thing for it would be a career in politics

I think a lot of us will be discussing how we plan on moving our businesses forward. Sharing our knowledge and plans for the future should help us all. We're using the cuts as an opportunity to diversify - not sure which direction yet.

Diversity definitely the way forward. We're exploring areas of renewables and energy efficiency that are less affected by the whims of government. Unfortunately it seems you need to be a plumber or heating engineer to do anything that's not PV. I think our business will be more sustainable if we ignore anything with a Feed in Tariff attached!! Got a few avenues to go down. Not sure what, if anything, will come of it at this stage. Quite fancy getting into fitting log burners - won't qualify for RHI but seem to be popular at the moment....and I want one myself:rofl:.

Still reckon there's a few months work going round fixing other people's shoddy PV installs too!

Looks like heat recovery might be covered in the Green Deal, we're looking at that as an option along with low energy lighting.

I think the phrase "back to basics" is apt here. Move on your strengths and work on your weaknesses.

Not sure if another renewable is a good line to go down. As said before if you're not a plumber then these little out there for us sparks. When it comes to MCS and all the costs for training etc I have to say I don't think I can be bothered or run the risk of having something else pulled from under me. I'm still not giving up on PV. I still think (hope!) they will see the errors of their ways and may be change something in 12 - 18 months time.

About 65p/watt, RealForce Power. Trading over 25yrs and OEM for Yingli and some other large firm. Not too sure tbh, took a punt!! we'll see what they turn out like. A Shade Greener are doing some panels for 77p/w ext VAT, Jan delivery.

The Germans have been laughing all the way to the bank at the British for the last 12 months - they only install Chinese and sell to the brits!

Im looking at optimisation of existing systems with the possibility of adding Parsons Switches etc and low energy lighting. Interested in the heat recovery as thats pretty basic heat exchanger stuff. Also looking at battery back up for low energy circuits for night time use etc. Im trying to look at advances in battery technology versus the rising cost of electricity.

Also have some off-grid projects on the back boiler.....
