Read this last week in the BBC new site. I wonder how much they are going to cost?

I guess like everything They will be £1000 each to start will and come down in price I'm finding some LED stuff is nearly the same price now as non LED, I suppose it all depends on how much the technology cost to create them I it would be funny in 5 years time if we are ripping out LED fittings to fit these.

but these ecologists and greenies fail to see the wood for the trees. OK, incandescent lamps produce heat as well as light, but not as inefficient as made out. basic law of physics is that energy cannot be created or destroyed. so..assume a 100 watt bulb produces 20watts equivalent of light energy and 80watts of heat. this 80watts helps to warm the room, thus reducing the energy required from the heating system, so then the gas central heating output is reduced, albiet by a small factor, comments please.

See what you are saying Tel, but the cost of the electrical heating is more expensive than what it would be to use gas central heating instead. And in summer the heat generated is 'waste' heat, as the GCH may not be on at all.

And the laws of physics are incorrect, you only need to see Rointes claims to see that!

The glaringly obvious fault in that logic is that the heat produced isnt always required, its just a wasteful by-product

But you knew that ....

The good old lightbulb isn't making a comeback in my house 'cos it's never been away!!

For years I've been buying them in bulk off E-bay and Amazon - about £6 for 10.

Sod the "Greenies" and "Energy Efficiency" - Joe Swan got it right!!

Same here. I just buy rough service lamps from the wholesalers.

NO mate I keep the heating at 21 degrees c all the time if it gets too hot, I just wear a tee shirt and shorts.
21? thats about 70 in english. sweatsville. our stat is set at 60 with a nail through it so 'er indoors can't waste gas.
