ive been reading through some of the other subs in this forum and i am starting to see a pattern emerge. it seems someone will post up a question and someone will flip a coin to decide if they give them a proper answer or an answer full of sarcasm. i've searched threads where two people have asked the exact same question and they have had very conflicting answers. hence why i believe the respondent simply flips a coin to decide what type of answer to give. i know that nobody is obliged to answer any questions but i find it ironic that the same people that call themselves professionals are the ones that take the time to give snidey remarks. it would be seen as extremely unprofessional if you were to post a question on a legal forum, only to have a barrister or solicitor respond with a sarcastic answer.

i have just answered a reletivley simply question in the main forum and have been met with sarcasm and imo unprofessional comment from people that spend most of their time on here saying how professional they are.

sorry rant over

I've been guilty of it to a point mate but there's a few things worth mentioning, first off there's a lot of times where this place is like a bait cabin on a site. you might ask a perfectly valid question at morning break only to have the mick taken out of you mercilessly, ask the same question at lunch break and you'll get an answer from the same people that ragged you for it a couple of hours earlier. Secondly a lot of the Electrical Trainee/DIYer questions are repeated over and over and over again so it's only natural that people are going to be fed up with answering them and will revert to **** taking mode when it comes up for the thousandth time, especially when a little bit of digging could have turned up the answer in about ten seconds.
I understand your point though and that's one of the many reasons why the trainees area was set up, to (for want of a better word) protect you guys from all that. All that said though, you're right it does look unprofessional and even downright rude at times but I suppose to a point it's to be expected.
Sermon over :)

Don't worry mate we all get like that now and again, I've just told one of the guys to tell his client I said he's an idiot.
I'm not so sure whether that customer service course I went on has really kicked in yet :)

I remember watching a programme with Ricky Gervais in it who said something remarkably true...it went along the lines of;

"Forums are alot like prison wings, they are run by one gang"

I see exactly what he means in this forum and in others I post in.

Don't worry about it mate it is really just like what happens on site you just have to roll with it and give some back haha but I do see why they get annoyed with some people most of the time they just want the answer spoon fed to them instead of searching the forum for the answer its just pure laziness, I also get annoyed some times when you see some one who has no electrical experience at all asking what size cable to run in for a shower then asking what MCB then asking how you wire it up they should not be messing with it if they don't understand it most people don't realise how dangerous electric really is they get a proper guy to sort out there gas cos that's real dangerous :/ when in actual fact electric is a lot more dangerous then gas (you can't smell electric till it sets fire ton your house) but yet people always ask that type of question haha most people on here just don't want the idiots who have no clue to end up killing some one just cos they don't want to spend a few hundred to pay a pro like we are one day gonna be haha
