Hi

ive been asked by a couple of different clients to take thermal images of distribution boards, this isn't something I've done before but interested in undertaking it, I know the camera starts at £1k but it's the report which I'm curious about.

is there an industry standard for the layout of the report, do the cameras come with software which has the report layout on and can anyone recommend a camera?

potentially I'll be doing this at 5 sites annually (insurance requirement) if it was a one off I wouldn't bother

thanks in advance

The likes of fluke etc do free courses to get to grips with how to use their products and interpret the results ..Im sure they come with a software package too but you will have to look into that yourself.

Not sure what you mean about insurance, you should already have sufficient insurance to practice your work, all the camera is doing is spotting ongoing issues it cannot always predict problems that will arise over the short period before failing.

Ok thanks, no it's the clients insurers requirement, preventive maintenance I guess

I use a fluke Ti100, it came with software to make a half decent report and the imager is dead easy to use. I have used it today and will upload a few images Monday if you like, it's in the workshop and canny be arsed to go back to work to fetch it :)

no lose connection :) just a slightly higher load on that phase, temps all well within, the imager makes it look worse than it is :)

thanks for that, do you mind me asking how you cost a job like this, I was thinking charge a day rate plus an allowance to cover the cost of the camera over time, I'm not asking for exact figures just a guide

I do maintainence on some stores that required thermal imaging, I subby the work from an Irish company, had there contracts manager come over this week to carry it out with me, all we had to do was take normal pics of the panels, then thermal images of them, he was going to put it all together when he got back, I wasn't under the impression there was a set certificate or report to go with it, as long as there was no issues then it was all good?

I'm not saying there is but I assumed there would be some kind of template for a report
