optician

Hi, just wanted your thoughts, got a flat that has been sound prooofed and insulated, in all internal studs and ceiling voids!!!
No chance of removing Insulation, and its already signed off a year ago.
Its my flat and now I'm qualified I just need to know its safe!

The circuit is a ring and all I'm going to do is change the MCB to a 20A, any problems you experienced
chaps out there foresee??

If its signed off it should be safe as for any changes you make refer to BS7671 for installation methods and that will give you the current carrying capacity figures you need for the appliance and mcb

Hope that helps

Chris

Thanks acat, its only a small flat so therefore I'm hoping you would be hard pushed to pull in excess of 20A so therefore ok? There are 2 ring circuits, one covering 3 rooms(2 bedrooms 1 livingroom) with 11 outlets total, and a kitchen ring suppling 4 outlets plus 2kw water heater, w'machine.
I know how much insulation is in there a so derating the cable by o.5 cable factor would apply hence 20A
I would rather trip for overload than cause a fire. Thoughts?
