thermo imaging

I'm doing a pat test mundane job, big 3000 plus but glad it came up, they asked if I could do thermal stuff, approxx 500 motors, 50 or so are essential for plant operation, major probs if any one of these breaks down. They had a thermal imiaging company last year, and two critical motors promptly broke down 2-weeks after they left, never picked up even though the images i've seen show signs heat generation.

It seem the thermal imaging company left data and images for maintenence staff to decide upon.

The report does not give advisory notes....all it says possible fault further investigation may be needed

I believe the thermal company were right, it did need and proved later to be a problem


I'm thinking/know the company didn't like the cost of being told they have a problem

Company i worked for a few years ago had contract to PIR a well known national tyre fitting place the first lot I sent in had "Unsatifactory" code 1s n 2s all over the place they werent happy and never got stuff sorted goes to prove "You can lead a horse to water but you cant make him drink!"
