Big n Daft

I've tried these things and I'm not going to predjudice anybodys thoughts on them yet, later chap and chapesses.
Has anybody else had a go with them and whats the verdict???

Hi Guys
Theres a parallel thread at:

Details on fixing etc can be found at:

Can also use a cable tie mount to secure to joist etc:

Mark, what is it that concerns you about using cable ties?

Personal preference, I looked at them at the Elex show on the Wago stand and just dont like them.

I have various sizes of screwdrivers with me, but not slim cable ties. Having a screwdriver with me the cable restraint will be tightened up, having to go get a cable tie from the van or wholesaler as not everyone keeps thin cable ties on them, I am convinced that they wont be replaced by some people. Also if anyone came across one for the first time on an installation and a cable tie was not present, would they just think its a poor design junction box?

For now I will stick with the Hager ones, maybe in time I may change my mind.

Thanks for the constructive feedback. Some wholesalers who sell them loose prefer them without the cable tie. From similar feedback we have started supplying ties with all of our packs.

Don't know what all the moaning is about regards not being able to fasten then to a joist or similar, as no matter which sort of JB you use, when using them for connection of down lights, you can't fasten to a surface anyway.

That Hager thing looks a right pain in the backside.
I've used the Line thingy to replace a choc bloc (no box) above a light fitting where there was no access above and hardly any slack on the cables. I cant think of anything else on the market that would have done the job. I got a loop in/out, switch wire, flex to the light, cable to a fan and a cable to another light. All very tight but no other way.
Mark to answer your comments from a practical point of view, I'd rather carry a pair of cutters and some cable ties than mess about with a screwdriver/clamps.
Fitted some downlights with 'em the other day. Just for fun timed me'self on the last one.................. 2 mins to make the jb off, not bad even for an old codger like me.
I cant speak highly enough of the LINE JB, its fandabbydozee

I'm always open to trying new ways of working smarter and not harder so it sounds that this is definitely worth a try. If it saves time and complies with the regs then it's got to be a no brainer

I've used loads of choc boxes and I must admit whilst I have now got the knack of them they can still be time consuming and fiddly.

:thumbsup

Same here, cable ties are naff so is the idea of screwing them to a joist through the cable tie eyes, looks gash.
what do you mean cable ties are naff....as if its a fashion or summat?......you use whatever is required to do the job....given regs and own intuition of course.......

Been using up the ones I ordered to try this week and I have to take that bit back mate now I'm used to them, great for downlights. I also got some of the little fixings Farrel mentioned to fix them to joists etc, works fine. Will order some more.
