Hi guys.

Im currently at college 2 evenings a week doing my 2330 level 2. I want to do some domestic work in the evenings and weekends to get some electrical experience as its impossible to get a job as a mate right now. Any advise on how to go about doing it and what im going to need would be very grateful?

Thanks

Doddy

First thing, are you competent to do the work off your own back? Next you will need insurance to cover your back incase you have an accident that causes damage to peoples property. Have you got a mft and can you test and cert all your work? It's a mine field out there, be careful and good luck if you go ahead.

The thing is if you were to do anything on the side as it were by the time you have paid out for self cert scheme, insurance etc etc you will probably be losing money as its a lot to pay out for a few jobs on the side. I am in pretty much the same situation as you which feels like a catch 22 position, no experience but cant get a job without experience.
