Testing today on a job and Ze was 1.98 and the earth clamp on the sheath was corroded as hell.

So got on the phone to Electricity NW emrgency number and explained the problem. After only about 10 minutes the guy said we'll have someone with you asap. Less than 1 hour the guy turns up a fixes it.

Did the same a few weeks back and was on the phone for a good 40 minutes explainng what the probelem was then waited hours for someone to show.
 
UKPN (formally EDF) have always given us good service.... They gave us a direct dial number (not the 0870 one) and we get through to someone that know's what they're taking about and respects us for knowing what we're talking about.
 
I had a problem on an installation a couple of months ago where there was no earth at all on a TNS system, called them up, OK they sasid we will get someone to you within....................4 weeks, I explained it again, 4 weeks is our standard call out, do you not understand I asked, you have no earth she said, so what will happen in 4 weeks I asked, an engineer will decide what your problem is she said and arrange an appointment within 14 days.
There was no budging her so I accepted her decision (turned the system into a TT to keep the house going), spotty kid turned up 5 weeks later and told me I had no earth, then 2 weeks later they came and dug the garden up and made repairs.AAARRGH
Is there any reason they could have not earth clamped or sweated a lug on the sheath?
