gambie

looking to start with one or the of the above prob thomson has anyone used them and what sort of results can we expect we also have our own website

Sorry to be negative gambie, but I had a year with Yell and guess what, I'm still waiting for a call, generated from them.
So word of mouth, reccommendations are best.
Good luck though

Yell, thomsons and yellow pages etc have never generated much work for me but they do serve as a reference point so customers can find your number - I have found that local papers and magazines generate more

Can vouch for the above. Spent the cash on more business cards and drop them everywhere...............Word of mouth cant be bought and is what you should aim for.......

Yell in Durham has worked for me...!!

Local Village Quarterly Newspaper also worked...!!

Van Sign writing also worked..!!

and so has Google ad words!!

thompson , Rated people, my cowboy etc...!! NAH!

I used the free listing by Yell and Thomson yep they used to phone every week but I explained that once I see work coming in then I will think about it other than that I built and developed 2 web sites plus advert in local mag cost £125 made £60 ? so I have stuck to my flyers and I got a add type business card that I use when I am doing work for a letting agent as some of the posh flats I have worked in have a comms board at the bottom of the stair

I've had one call from yell, and I don'ty think I even got the job.

Thompson I can tell you is the base for spam phonecalls, and I'll tell you how I know. My bus. name is Butler's Electrical but somehow ended up in Thompson as 'Butler's Electricians', and 9 times out of 10 when I get a spam call they say 'is that butler's electricians?'

Trust me to open my big mouth just got a call to fit a couple of lights and the guy said I got you from your Thomson listing

Jem :(

Have you tried flyers Jem I specialise in electrical repairs so I made up a 2 sided flyer postcard size and got 5000 printed for £65 and it has been worth it plus I get the exercise
