Been a while since I've been around these parts, but hopefully one of you will be able to advise me.

In process of a carrying out a reasonable size renovation on a domestic property, part of which is a rewire.
Building control involved.

Have located consumer unit in utility room as spec'd, slightly higher than usual at 2000 off FFL.

Now the problem is the plumber/ customer want to site the boiler directly under this.
It cant even go to the left or the right slightly as the section of wall in question is about 700mm wide. And its got to sit above a worktop - 900mm high

Even if it was kept 150mm away this still doesn't seem right to me. It really limits the access along with the common sense factor !

What are your thoughts please ?

Thanks Sy

My thoughts are, it really cheeses me off when you / me / our bit has to be moved to fit in with the pipe bender, because he can't work out an alternative siting.

i have moved fuseboards before because I was told to by the gaffer, who was told by the wet pants that his boiler absolutely had to go there.

just think its a silly idea. If you are to be paid handsomely to move the fuseboard then I'd move it....

Unfortunately there will no chance of that being done on my behalf + customer wouldn't want to spend the extra.

Shame all this because the piper bender is actually a 'work mate' of mine !

Back on site tomorrow to re-asses and get my regs book out.
