Hi, I have a very keen potential customer who wants to buy 3 off 4kWp systems for his caravan site. He has...

3 Meters
One to feed the house - with suitable roof
One to feed the top field - big utility shed and toilet block
One to feed the bottom field - no buildings served, just camping pitches.

He would like to buy three seperate systems and have each one eligible for the 43.3p tarrif - is this possible?

If possible can we locate all three systems on his utility shed with one cable running to the house and another to the bottom field meter house and the third connecting into the db in the utility shed?

How close to the wind can we practically sail, does anyone have any practical experience or can anyone point me exactly to the relevant documentation please?

It's not really covered in the docs - other than where OFGEM reserve the right to do whatever they want to. This is in the definition of 'site' in the Standard Conditions - http://www.decc.gov.uk/assets/decc/what we do/uk energy supply/energy mix/renewable energy/policy/fits/1_20100331172153_e_@@_fitlicencemodification.pdf

“Site” means the premises to which are attached one or more Accredited FIT Installations or Eligible Installations in
close geographical proximity to each other, to be determined as required by the Authority by reference to:
(a) the relevant Meter Point Administration Number for electricity supply;
(b) street address;
(c) OS grid reference;
and any other factors which the Authority at its discretion views as relevant;

If you have separate meters then you should be OK - but then putting all the panels on one roof might not be a good idea.

How about planning permission? You might need to put in 3 applications to meet the OFGEM criteria which would probably confuse the local planners.

Unfortunately OFGEM have point-blank refused to ever give a decision before a system is commissioned and an application made. An approach that they are not going to be doing with RHI.

Thanks Ted, great reply and very fast. I've advised the customer that we'll put it in as he wants but I'll run the figures for a single 12kWp system just in case he gets re-assessed so he knows what will happen then.

I'll put in a G83-2 and it's down to the customer to deal with planning permission, I advise them of this at the outset and they then choose what they want to do.

Thanks!

Hi Ramjam

I think you will be in trouble personally .
I posted a link a few weeks ago that i think covered this , but it was probably what Ted has just said !
