Probably @ Tony

Have you ever set one of these up? (in the configuration shown on p30.)

Any specialist instruments required ie. scope?

The thyristors are already in use on a heat tunnel but one appears to be faulty... no leds lit at all, fuse intact and all input voltages present along with reference signal. Just interested to know for when a new one arrives! :skep:

Please and thanks.

There may be a few other checks that could help, but what the heck the Co. is paying!

Don't look like a scope is needed but you may have to simulate or measure accurately some ip/op's

First place I’d look is the 0-20mA inputs, followed by what ever else inputs to it. Other than that I’d follow Paul's lead. It looks like you can only do unit replacement, other than the fuse.

A scope isnt needed to set one up, easiest way to check the thyristor is to put in a high temp setpoint on the controller and put a clip on on the thyristor output, due to a high differential between the ambient and setpoint the thyristor will give near enough a constant output until it nears its set point, you could also measure the voltage of the output, a dmm quite often doesnt have the time to respond to the switching and will show a voltage that you would near enough expect.

p.s i know its an older post but its handy info imo
