Another thread I have replied to regarding being busy made me think.
Who is getting a break this weekend ( Bank holiday ) I am really trying to get Fri-Tues off but I can't see it happening, although I really could do with a chill out.
Anyone got any plans that don't involve electrical work paid or unpaid!!

Well I'm still at home and the phone hasn't rung yet!!!
But there's still plenty of time and I cant get through the entire weekend has I have got to go and price a job tomorrow morning, but that's not really working so I can cope with that.
But it just goes to show when you work for yourself unless you leave the country you can never really escape from work.

In one of my periods of self employment I had a business partner and 8 - 10 lads working for us and I still got calls or voicemails from them and customers about work when I was out of the country on holiday and with better roaming and cheaper charges these days it is probably more common

Well I spoke to soon, just come off the phone from the 2nd customer lol, luckily not a job just a couple of questions regarding jobs.

A mate of mine works in freight forwarding and he is never off work. He was going on holiday with his wife and kids a couple of years back and had asked me to drop them off at his office so they could head off as soon as he was done. Before he left he gave a list of dates, places and phone numbers where he'd be in case he had no mobile signal.
I asked him why he was doing it and the reply was just in case something went wrong and they needed him, as he's the manager he needs to be contactable at all times. He didn't have an answer when I asked him what his staff and the company would do if he dropped down dead tomorrow.
I don't think I ever heard of anyone lying on their death bed wishing they'd spent more time at work.
