hi

is it ok to spur off a socket into a timer then into a socket, so that socket is on a timer for 12v lights. the timer is 230v rated
 
You'll need to put a 13A fuse at the start of the chain. I'd also check that the timer is capable of SWITCHING the load you intend to use.
 
sounds like a Christmas lights special!!!
