im fitting a eletric towel rail in the bathroom via 5amp fused spur and i need to fit a timer to this, can the timer be fitted next to the fused spur and if so how do you connect the timer to the fused spur ? any help would be great thank,s...

You can pick these timers up in some wholesalers, dont often see em though. When you get it refer to manufacturers instructions on how to wire ut in.

only done this once before. fitted immersion heater timer in loft directly above FCU. supply from RFC to FCU, then 3 core/E to timer, 3rd core as sw/L connected in FCU back box to heater.
 
but are they suitable for fitting in a steamy bathroom?
I'm assuming the OP's FCU is outside the bathroom, at worst it will be outside any zones inside the bathroom so IP rating isn't a concern. The manufacturer has no specific instructions as to the positioning of the unit so I doubt it would be a problem where you installed it, regs permitting.

However,

I am also on the hunt for an IP44 timer for a towel rail.

I have found a few switches/controllers but none are timed, can anyone reccomend one????

can you not fit an immersion heater timer, out of the bathroom,maybe on reverse side of wall?
