just wondered about something,
where I am lodgging noticed the supply is TNCS 100A fuse carrier 16mm tails to meter and what looks like 6mm earth.
If you was upgraiding the cu would you have to get the suppliers to upgrade ? before you start? or would you inform them after? or do nothing?
Not doing work here just thought i'd ask.
Paul

Paul, if it is TNCS is the Main Earth Conductor coming out of the cut out or is it the type with an earth block on the neutral side of the cut out - on the latter you could upgrade. If it is terminated inside the cut out you'll have to get the supplier to upgrade, however they'll only do it on request from the customer (in this case your landlord) or whoever is on the bill. There should be no charge for this.

You still usually have to provide the tails, have them already connected in the CU before your supplier will connect the new tails.
Alot of electricians will install new tails into the CU and Join them onto the old tails using a Henlys block or something similar, the customer can then contact the supplier and have them connect the new tails at their leisure.
