am i correct in saying that u will get a reading between N and E when the supply is turned off (cont test)

because they are joint the the service head?

how many ohms are suspected??

yes you will get a reading, and it will be the resitanmce of the neutral and earth conductor to the point you are measuiring. obvioulsy with bonding ect connected, the reading may be lower than expected.

If you are testing with the switch off on the installation side you should have no reading between N & E as the double pole switch will isolate the neutral!

very true tony. Just for clarification, if the main sitch is left closed, and you isolate a circuit via a single pole MCB, you will still get a reading.
