Hi guys a while ago I saw a sparky on site using a device for getting the correct heights and levels when installing backboxes. I should have asked him where it was from and cannot remember the brand name (thought it would be easy to google) but try as I might I have never found one since.

Does anyone use one or has anyone seen one?

I hate installing backboxes and usually just fire a laser line around the room before marking off my heights. Any other methods you guys use?

I use a chalk line and ping my line so its on the top of the boxes, that way I get them level......... ( apart from when having a few lunchtime bevvies ) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I bought one when i first started out used it once and sold it on. bad enough trying not to loose the rest of my tools.

i get a long piece of wood screw a single back box to it at correct height and a double one at correct height and just go to each point where an accessory is needed and draw round the corresponding box.costs about 50p to make

Cheers for the replies guys. The draper and Kew Technik ones look like what he had but his was doing the current heights so wonder if he modified it.

As a few said, think I will just get some wood and screw a box to it tomorrow. Have over 100 sockets to first fix

Another good way of keeping a standard gap between double and single back boxes is to put a galv coupler in between two boxes and bush them together. This then gives you a gap which will prevent decorative plates being too close etc also levels the boxes quite nicely too.
