What are considered to be the main tools of the electrician's trade and why?

I'd say my most important bit of kit is my test gear because it's what proves everything is safe to use. Apart from that everything is important as it's what enables me to carry out my trade

erm.............KETTLE a good one is a must, and bog rolls a plenty, everything else we can work around.

Decent insulated screwdrivers , snips , pliers and fluke multimeter.

I would say that a voltage tester and proving unit are pretty important as in a lot of cases without them you cant start work.

best tool is an apprentice. they can get into all the dirty attics, smelly corners, make brews, fetch butties. in fact, the most versatile multitool i have ever seen.
