I have only been on my own for a few months and have a small van so I cant get everything on board.
But could you guys / gals give a quick list of the most important things you keep on the van.
(not the general things like tools, drills, sockets, switches, cable, etc)

many thanks.

Roof rack, make sure it's boarded, alloys, decent sound system,go faster stripes, blue light on top to get you to jobs on time, and a tow bar for the extra kit you may need:D:D:D

Ok in no order and not including any tools or parts.

1. pens and pencils ( lots of )
2. kettle
3. toastie machine ( breville/foreman )
4. t bags / coffee
5. mug
6. instant milk
7. tommy K ( heinz )
8. toilet roll
9. lighters ( lots of )
10. invoice book

not quiet the post I was expecting but it does make sense to have a tow bar on a berlingo :-)
And I think I might but some go faster stripes on it, a blue light would not go a miss either.

Sorry I did not mean to don't include tools and parts just to the general basics (screw drivers pliers hammer, grips etc) . It would be good to get a list of the things for the jobs you have turned up to and thought I wish I'd brought this or that.
cable rods, gun nail, plumbing equipment.

Tea, coffee etc and kettle. Ipod. smokes and lighters. Bog rolls............oh and the golf clubs :-)

I have a big one, van that is so I carry loads too much but i always wish I could carry more. Here's my top 10:

1. Spare 10 way CU - all the cb's you need plus the full board for surprises.
2. 50 mtrs of 2.5, 1.5 and 3 core.
3. Plugs and fuses - amazing how many jobs this fixes.
4. Bosch hole cutters.
5. Plenty of sheathing dotted all over the van and pockets.
6. Insulated cup for the tea
7. Pad and pencil for pocket.
8. Good day a page diary.
9. Cable rods - best invention ever.
10. Helecon connectors - like the wago ones but cheaper - 2nd best invention ever.

Can't think of any more right now.

you need a proper hands free kit if ya well busy , shopping basket full of breakers and fuses, and as much different cable as poss, :)

Must admit, i dont carry many materials as i have my local wholesaler wrapped round my little finger and will deliver pretty much anything, anywhere at any time :D

I dont carry much either, tend to order per job. The wholesalers all deliver the next day any way. Plus it is unlikely that I can do a job immediately, usually a while off so just order.
That said I carry a few sockets, switches, surface boxes, earth cable (4, 10 and 16mm), T&E (2.5, 1.5, 3core and some 3 core flex), chockboxes, connector strips/ wago connectors (moving over to them now) and earth sleeving.
most useful seems to be flexible conduit, gromets, earth clamps and earth cable.

on mine right now i have

Cable.. singles 1.5mm up to 4.0mm, 6.0mm & 10mm cpc

T&E 1.5mm up to 6.00mm

flex 0.75mm up to 2.5mm

Mk & Crabtree sockets & spurs (backboxes to suit

YT2 trunking bends

2 hop ups

1 pair of steps

rods

fish tape

dust sheets

and drills!!

My top list
1: a good torch! (surprised no else mentioned it)
2: warm dry coat, spare strides socks and pants
3: Lots of tape, sheath, silicon
4:Pllenty of assorted screws, nuts, bolts, washers
5:Cable
6: Drinks, food, smokes
7:Cash/change for parking meters, tolls etc
8:MAP/SATNAV with locations of wholesalers etc
9:Pens, pads, laptop with 3G dongle
10:Bottle of Scotch/Port/Wine for when you need to make amends/thank or apologise (crate of beer works better on site but you only have a small van)

:mad:Dont forget a baseball bat for the prat that cuts you up and decides he wants to get personal
